Unschooling Science: Creating a Science Bin

This is a quick and easy way to ensure you’ve always got the supplies you need when you’re in the mood to do some serious experimenting!

First, choose some science activities that look fun and interesting.  My kids and I looked online together and printed out a bunch.  We hole punched these and put them in a 3 ring binder.

Next, make a list of the materials needed for each of the activities.  Collect these and store them in a bin.  Ours contains things like vinegar, sugar cubes, corn starch, baking soda, old measuring cups and spoons, string, some old containers, and toothpicks.  Yes, a lot of this is stuff I usually have on hand, but somehow it’s so much easier when it’s all in one place!

Having a science bin with the materials already gathered makes it that much simpler to dive in and get busy. With four kids in our family, anything that makes life simpler is a hit!
